i managed to grab a PS3 20GB preorder while waiting at toysrus for a Wii preorder.

now, i've been looking at the launch line up (i haven't been following ps3 much) and saw that a few real exclusive titles are pulled from launch (warhawk, motorstorm).

so now the real question - is the PS3 20GB something i should hold on to? or should i try to sell it and pick up a 60GB in the coming months? when do you suppose PS3 systems will be in regular stock, mid Jan?

    thanks

I know that I'm considering camping in front of Best Buy on the 17th for a PS3, just to sell...

    Sell.

You'll make a ton on money, and when the PS3's become easy to get you'll have more than enough money to pick up the 60GB. Plus, the launch doesn't look too great anyway.

I was on the same boat back in december last year with my xbox 360. It was a hard decision, but I sold it on ebay for $880. I ended up getting another 360 for me 4 weeks later. Pretty much means I got my 360 for free :) .

    SELL, SELL, SELL! :p

I'm buying a PS3 later, but as of now, the lineup doesn't interest me at all. I'll stick with the Wii and 360.

I'd sell, nothing on the PS3 would make me need it then, and the fact it would pay for a PS3(later) and Wii(now) I can't see why not to sell it!

They only reason I would keep it was if I terminal disease and really did not have the time to wait around!

If you want to play the PS3 then buy it and keep it but if you want to make a buck then sell it.

I will be keeping mine and enjoying it.

    Bless

You gotta be crazy to keep it. Sell, you'll make a profit. Potentially the 20gb could pay for the 60gb version months down the line. Easy.
If you want the initial 'hi res' buzz then buy a PS2/PC controller adapter and some PS2 games in super high resolutions on the PC. Happy days.

    Sell

I have been able to preorder 2 at toysrus and plan to sell them...it seems there is a good bit of money that can be made by selling them.

Sell would be a good option, the best time to own a console is nearing the holiday of the year after it was released so that would make Xbox360 the console to get right now which makes sense look at all the cool games and stuff coming out for Xbox360, Holiday 2007 will probably be PS3's best moment yet, possibly a slight price reduction (highly unlikely though) tons of great games out by then and of course many hardware kinks worked out.

Right now the only console I would consider owning at launch would be a Wii. I did own a PS2 very shortly after launch but that was because it was kind of an urge, I mean PS2 was PS2, nothing wrong with that but PS3 doesn't convince me at all, besides, I've been plaing hi-def and fancy graphics for YEARS now on PCs.

I'll wait until Pro Evolution, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Devil May Cry 4 are released before even considering purchasing a PS3.

Oh and by the way, PS3's problem is hardly price, if you can afford a 400$ console you can afford a 500$ that is worth the price actually (from a technical hardware point of view). The main problem with PS3 is well... a lot, but if I had only one word to say I would say it as simply as "Sony".

Sell. You'll spend, what is it, $500 on the PS3 and get ~$1000-1500 (depending how crazy stuff gets) on eBay for it leading up to Christmas. $500 profit pays for the Wii you pre-ordered and either a ton of games and controllers, or the Wii and a 360.

    Quick math:
Sell PS3 for $1500, $1000 profit would mean
    Wii - $250
    Wii Controller - $60
    Two Wii games - $100
    360 Premium - $400
    Xbox controller - $50
    One new 360 game - $60
    One "platinum" 360 game - $30
Nice dinner for your wife/husband/gf/bf/mom/dog whatever - $50
Total - $1000, not a dime of it out of your pocket.

Do you really think they will sell for around $1500 leading up to Christmas??? If they will, I think I will try to preorder more of them to sell. I can see a lot of money made on ebay this december.

I wouldn't be surprised. PS2's went for that much and, if it's possible, the PS3 is more hyped up than the PS2 was.

    If I had a PS3 I'd sell it in a minute.

I really need to just get as many as I can get my hands on and sell them...however it seems a difficult task to even preorder them now.

Easily. The "premium" PS3 set will go for $2000+, the "basic" will get $1500+. Pre-orders for them are selling for $1200, and once the release hits the local news and every 12 year old starts crying to mommy to buy him one, she'll hit up eBay and prices will get out of control.

Man, where were all you people in the last PS3 thread where a guy got crucified for trying to sell his PS3??

But back to the topic: unless you're loaded, sell that sucker.
