Ok, please help me! I'm trying to install Diablo 2 onto my macbook (running OS X) and I've downloaded the native installer patch from the blizzard website, but when I start it up, and it all starts to install (and it does this whether I install the full game, multiplayer game or the single player game) it just stops when it's on "Diablo II Sounds" and I get the error:

"The file DF Diablo II could not be read because an error 38 occured."

Does anyone know what this means or how I can fix it?

    Please?
    Thank you!

Hmm... I've never seen that one before. I've always installed in on PowerPC processors though, so I'm not sure.

I, too, had errors during installation of D2. It was due to the disk being scratched/damaged. I don't recall the exact error # i got, but the error msg i got was similar to yours and indicated something not being able to be read. I bought another copy of the game since its so cheap nowadays and the installation was fine with the new discs.

Btw, this is on a 20" C2D iMac running 10.4.8.
