When I play videos through VLC, the volume can go terrificly high and I'm very impressed with that features of VLC, however when I go over to Plex (amazing app <3) the volume level is poor in comparison.

How do I make the volume level go higher? (I think in VLC you can go up to 300%.)

This may not work or you but I previously posted how my plex volume was too low and a red icon was showing on screen. I started pressing buttons and low and behold somehow plex's volume was turned down. I guess when I dropped my keyboard it pressed the button that turned it down. That said, I found by pressing the plus and minus keys on the keyboard the db (sound) was adjusted.

While playing a video, press the return key to bring up the onscreen display. Use the cursor keys to go to the speaker icon on the right hand side. Press enter to get the right side onscreen display. There should be a volume level menu item there that's measured in db's, just turn it up to your preference.

I've tried this recommended fix before and it didn't seem to make a big difference. I've heard that VLC allows you to go well beyond the "tolerance" of Apple's built in speakers (thereby possibly causing damage in the long term) but that Plex does not have this functionality

Anybody else heard that? Am I completely off base?

    Thanks :)
