So we've had our fun with poetry in the poop thread... [IMG]

But let's see if we have any talented poets here.

    Generate something original.
    Just for this occassion,
    make it a sensation. :D

    Avatar Contests
    Tarists, what's the scoop?
Let's not par this to the poop
That you read from the thread
    Much like eyelikepoop had said.
What's the scoop on your skill?
    Does Photoshop kill
    Other idols so denial
Set the tide for his recital

    Taking back what he said?
Knock 'em dead, to the bed
    On a rest and retreat
    Pondering only defeat
    Of matching, then scratching
    Trying to beat that patching
    That you did with Photoshop
    On your multi gigaflop

    Mean machine, oh so keen
    Coloring blue red and green.
Set a tween on your scheme,
    On your animation theme.
    Imitations are outrageous
    Yet these contests are contageous
    Setting stages, different wages
    Betting these ones are outrageous,

Betting this one gets first prize.
Yet he tries, then he cries
To be late to this contest
He may be the bytchin' best.
Now your dream is coming true
Can't you see it's coming through?
Make your best, scar the rest
    For the avatar contest.

    "Little Green Men"

    Out of the playground’s ashes
Come little men with little games
    They’re playing war
They’re planning new crusades like new arcades
The reason for the season is to flood the media
    With suicidal mania
And paint this landscape with this human waste

So lets all sing a song of love
    Lets sing sing sing sing
    Sing until our throats bleed

And if this child could sing he would say:
    I don’t need anybody
    I don’t need anyone
I don’t need your guidance home
Watch as I build my empire
Watch as I rise and fall
Watch as I fight all alone

    History’s a stage for re-runs
For 3 A.M. insomniacs who quote the episodes
If tricycles came with guns we’d all be safe
Little green men didn’t come from outer space
With coupons in the Sunday Paper
    They came from corporate brains

    So until we all confess
And admit we stole the candy
These little men are playing games
    >From here to eternity
But I'll be sitting by myself here
    Waiting oh so patiently
Waiting for the sky to fall
    And purge frail humanity

    Your Heroes Are Dead
    There’s something coming
    And its coming for you
    The mob is restless
    Looking for something new
    You lead us here
    With an eternal promise
    The gallows are calling
For you to pay for this

Now that we’re left here on our own
There is nowhere left to turn
    Who will see me through?

    Your heroes are dead
They were all in your head
When nothing is left we’ll start again

    What fitting ends
    To our fearless fathers
    The cost of treason
    Isn't paid in dollars
    With nothing left
    There is nothing to lose
    We’ll watch the city gates
    Falling all around you

You said id never make it
    That I could only fail
But I'm the one who’s standing
And what has happened to you?

Now that we’ve said goodbye to you
    We’ve started something new

    Your heroes are gone
    They left with the dawn
Now its just us well carry on

    Just wanted you to know...

    Intelligence is a tool,
    Rarely wielded by the fool,
    So I ask of you,
The wielders of the this tool,
    To smite this bloody fool.

    ;)

You guys may also discuss which professional poets you like/appreciate the most, their best work, how you feel about it and why.

    Bravery
[This one is a little long, but it is derived from how my life has changed recently. Theme based on Papa Roach -- Time And Time Again.]

Tell me why I hide from the shell? See,
Don't undermine what will keep me healthy.
To myself, keep my health nice and clean,
But for three years my fears have grown keen.
When I look at the matter I grew sadder,
When I got pissed off my emotions splattered,
Wishing I could wish off everything that matters
Look at my life slice into scatters.

    I couldn't chatter, I thought it didn't matter
Nothing that I did made people flatter.
I grew sadder, and madder. On a silver platter
My life in my hands. Should I shatter
the platter to my pride, what I had left inside?
Was it time for crime? Committing suicide?
Just sending it away, was it meant to be this way?
Just bending, and descending my life from this day?

    It takes bravery
To see that there's a place on Earth for you to be.
    It takes bravery
Whether by yourself or a friend it's not the end.

So I made threats out loud, threatening like a cloud,
All around the crowd heard my hate aloud.
I thought it was the end, and then comes a friend,
Someone who can help make my life ascend.
It was never pretend, when she saved me from the end.
She helped my life from the big bend,
With a symbol on a stem, it made me feel again
That I was worthy on this Earth since my birth then.

    It takes bravery
To see that there's a place on Earth for you to be.
    It takes bravery
Whether by yourself or a friend it's not the end.

She had no idea that my life was on a ledge
And likewise when I had some time to vege.
I discovered something true; it turned my heart blue
Now I had to tell her how my life came true.
It takes a compromise, to sell her no lies.
She said she'll try. With my emotional cries,
I wish she keeps her life and I'll keep mine.
Let's live up to our lives in compromise.

    It takes bravery
To see that there's a place on Earth for you to be.
    It takes bravery
Whether by yourself or a friend it's not the end.

    It takes bravery,
Ending life is wrong, keep your life up strong.
    It takes bravery,
To live up your lives and to share that
    compromise.

    Visions of blue....

Visions of blue creep into my mind
    Along with feelings melancholy, sublime
I am tempered by the view of the bay
The clouds move swiftly but the sky stays grey
With no sunlight to highlight colors bold
Even the fall foalige seems so cold
But look a bit closer, the hues still thrive
Waiting for tomorrow, for the sun to bring life

    letter to no one...

    Dearest...

Forgive me, for I know not what it is that truly suits me. What I do know, is that there's part of my puzzle which u hold the missing pieces. What I mean is you fit me quite well in ways no one else has been able. This I know for sure, yet I find it impossible to get past. True I have a horrid fear within me that has consumed my ability to let go, but know that it's not intended. I have never felt the sensation of my heart screaming at me, only to have my head talk it down calmly.

The softness of your skin, the depth of your eyes, the tingle from your touch, I'm already feeling mesmerized once again my dear. These emotions I have felt from the beginning, and have felt all the way through the end. Still, I wonder why is it simply not enough to outweigh this battle of wits going on inside me? To override the logic would be foolish, yet giving into the temptation would...would...make me happy? I feel as though this is truth, yet the fear of it all still holds me prisoner. I find it impossible to come to a reasonable decision.

The emptiness which consumes my soul, for it will eventually go away, as it always does. How will I know though? Will it ever come to me? To change my mind now would require great reason as to confuse my beloved, once again. You see, this would not be the first time my indecision has conflicted with the feelings of her love. Confusion, anger, betrayal...these are just a few of which I have inflicted upon her. Unintentional of course, but still, one cannot rewrite what's past.

The curiosity that I feel, wondering just what she's doing, thinking, saying, feeling; it is this that will be trying. These things listed will be not quite as monstrous as the fear of having made a mistake. No one knows for sure who's going to remain in our lives, fact known. What if I have walked away from that which fate intended for me? These confusing notions literally make me mad. Again, I fear it has been too late to change what is past, in attempt to make it good once again.

So my dear, all I can do is accept these feelings I hold inside. I wish not to hurt u once more, so I must walk the road to where I have navigated. If only I knew I could go back once more, to take u on a ride along with me. I cannot help but to wonder if my feelings could overcome my actions?

    all my love,

    ...
