As Halloween approaches, I plan on carving a pumpkin. I have developed a few patterns and used Photoshop to simulate what they would look like carved in a pumpkin. The brightest areas are parts that are cut all the way through the pumpkin, and the medium shade are where I will just be scratching off the opaque surface of the pumpkin allowing the light to shine through the translucent orange flesh. The problem is, of all the patterns that I made I've got a few dynamite ones that I can't decide between. That's where you guys come in. Which do you think would be the best?

I'll post pictures after I carve, either this weekend or next.

Also, if any of you other pumpkin carvers would like the patterns more suitable for working from for your own carvings, let me know!

Sorry, but I have another choice. I would really like to see how the one of Jesus would look.

Mr. T is badass, but I'm gunna go with the Jesus.

However, some may not approve of that (bah  ).

Very nice idea with the photoshop 3 color gif (assuming that is how you did it...).

I might mess around with some pics and post the results here :).

Maybe an image from this site:
    http://www.freewebs.com/pecunius/jesus.html
(warning: there is at least 1 picture on that site that is not in good taste, namely the smilie face one... :( )

    Example:

Or you could do something absolutely hillarious like this:

Being a geek, you gotta love this one:

And if you are a democrat, it would be funny to do one that says:
    </bush> on it :D.

Now, this idea is just as scary as it is funny :D :

This is probably not the best image to use, but I'm too lazy to find a better one:

Being a fan of Missy Elliott, I'd do this :D :

    Mr. T all the way.

But I have to say those are quite detailed and pumpkin isn't that forgiving - regardless what you choose, post a finished pic, I'd love to see how they come out :D

Just so that I can prove that I intend to make a carving and have the skill, this is one I carved two years ago. It was a labor of about 12 hours one Saturday. I didn't carve one last year because the local stores were out of the carving kits, and so I had no tools. This is a video capture from a the cheap video camera I had back then.

Due to overwhelming demand by my local friends, it seems that I'm going to be going with the 'buddy christ' design this year, sorry guys.

That's a great job Stoid. You have quite a talent, you have my admiration. I feel overwhelmed that you chose my suggestion. Goes to show that the least sometimes win. Really looking forward to seeing the results of your labor, thank you.

Well, apparently the pumpkin was bad. I just carved it Saturday, and now Tuesday morning I was greeted by an overwhelming stench of rotten pumpkin. Fortunately, for you all I did get it's picture Saturday night. I think I'm going to have to do another so that I have one on Halloween. I'm thinking of making a Gollum (via LotR) and carve the top so that it projects the inscription from the inside of the ring onto the walls/ceiling.

Either that, or Mr. T, so cut out that Jibba-Jabba!
