I'm one of those people that hate to throw something away if serves some king of purpose. For the last month, I've been on a popsicle kick accumulating a healthy collection.

So far I've just been rinsing them off and then throwing them on top of the refrigerator. Can these be useful for something?

:p If you run on a track and you frequently lose count of how many laps you've run (and you don't have a Nano + Nike thingie) you could use the sticks to help ya.

Or you could get super creative.

FYI: I think it's spelled, "popsicle."

Stack and glue them up together like this...

Keep going until it's about 15-20cm high, stick some more across the bottom to make a proper base and you now have a box for pens, pencils etc to sit on your desk.

With the price of lumber these days, I'm surprised they don't make them out of plastic.

I won't eat stick ice cream any more for just that reason.

On the topic of what to do with them when we were little we filed them down to points on the sidewalk and shivved each other.

only a guess, but i think the porous nature of wood keeps the popsicle from sliding off, as a wooden stick holds it so long as its frozen...only when there is a melty liquid between the stick and the frozen treat, does it slide off.

with plastic, I would think only the deepest cold would hold the treat for very long.

Once dry they make good kindling.

Also, I recall as a child making some popsicle stick throwing stars that would "explode" upon impact when thrown.

Ah, dang, I'm sorry. When I saw the thread, that was the first thing that popped into my head, and when I didn't see it explicitly mentioned, I ran off to find a link.

Sorry! I was excited by thoughts of a stick Jobs!

    Eww, that sounds gross.
