Can anyone recommend a good portable charger for the iPhone. I'm looking for something that is either battery powered or can be recharged itself. Something that you can just plug into the bottom of the phone to recharge or extend talktime.

Thanks!

If you look in the iphone ACCESSORIES forum, there are quite a few threads already on this subject.

This got the best iLounge reviews: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/just-mobile-gum-and-gum-pro-portable-usb-power-packs/

I just got mine this week. It is rather compact. It is said to charge the iphone about 4x on one full charge. I have yet to see how accurate that is, but I no longer have any anxiety about battery life and the iphone. What a burden lifted!

I would NOT recommend this one: http://www.energizer.com/products/energi-to-go/ipod-charger/Pages/ipod-battery-charger.aspx

It was $8 on woot. I got it and plugged it in my phone and it started charging, so I put it in my car for emergencies. Last week I went camping and my phone died, so I plugged it in and it charged to 30% before saying "this device doesn't work" blah blah. So I wore my phone down to dead again, and plugged it back in. This time it charged it to 5% before saying it wont charge anymore. I think this happened another time. So yes, it worked and was dirt cheap, but it isn't flawless.

They carry the following:

(1) iPWR IP500 Rechargeable Lithium Ion Backup Battery (first item on site)

(2) Slimm Lithium Ion Charger (SL827) - less than 1 millimeter thick and works great with the iPhone - i've tested it myself (second item on site):

(3) 2 'AA' Charger which will charge the iPhone to 100% using AA Lithium batteries, or add 60% charge using NiMH rechargeables. Alkalines only give about 20% (for emergency purposes).

iPa 3000

You can find amazing portable iphone chargers from raidenpower.com . I bought the iPa 3000mAh. It is good and very powerful. The price is really really attractive.
