    Hello -

Assuming thtat current Radeon 9200 cards in iBook G4s will not be supported, has anyone thought up possible hacks or fixes for keeping the iBooks current when it comes to Tiger?

There's truely no good reason why the concept of CoreImage can not be realized on a 32MB Radeon card.

Any chances that it will be supported or support added later?

It seems like support should have to be added, especially since the iBook has gotten such a huge retail "bump" since upgrading to a G4.

As far as what will be "available" with CoreImage apps. on an older system, what can one expect to find in a CoreImage application if they're usuing an older video card? What kind of scaled down performance will Tiger put on it?

    Thanks

    N.

CoreImage (and Motion) require support for ARB_VERTEX_PROGRAM and ARB_FRAGMENT_PROGRAM (aka pixel and vertex shaders). Nothing can be done about it, except for software emulation, which Apple has stated they're doing (although possibly not for everything. The performance would be terrible on some stuff). Apple has also stated that CoreImage will scale with the available hardware, so it seems that everyone with anywhere near modern hardware will get something.
