I'm hoping the next 15" gets:

Merom
DL Superdrive
FW800
3xUSB (unlikely)
Right-Click Trackpad (like on the current 17")
Higher resolutions (again unlikely)

I'm waiting on Merom whatever happens, but damn it I hope the 15" gets the extra features the 17" currently has...(I prefer everything about the 17", though its just too big!)

Am I wishing too much? What are your forecasts?

Any idea of when this would happen?

I'm hoping we get at least some of these, especially the DL Superdrive & Right Click when the Merom MBPs are released (maybe August??)

What about Blu-RAY drives?? SOny already has laptops with those.

Merom, FW800, 2xUSB, Blu-Ray, Geforce 7900 GTX Go, Increased Battery life, Less Heat, No Whine.

That would be the perfect laptop ever!

Possibly all you'll get are ...

1. Speed Bump

2. Engineering changes

3. Possibility of dual-layer Superdrive

Do we really need higher resolutions right now? They're already pretty damn high.

Also, I'm betting on Merom, DL, FW800, the right click AND... a black option!

I agree - the resolution on my 15" is stunning to say the least. All my friends are like, "dang, that's more than my giant 21" monitor can show!!!"

Text is just large enough so that it's legible - any smaller, and I might struggle (and I'm 17!!!)

right click on 15.4 mbp?

do you mean a "real" button, as in a two-button trackpad, or the ability to rightclick? I rightclick all day long on my MBP, week 20 15 inch

Right click as in the 17in MBP and the new MBs. They have a software feature so that if you click with 2 fingers on the trackpad it registers as a right click. It has been hacked to work on the 15in and most people (well, me anyway) are expecting it to be included in 10.4.7.

As a graphic design student, having higher resolutions is always preferrable. Having used both the 15" & 17" MBP, the resolution on the 17" is that bit more useful. I could totally cope with it on a 15".

With the Merom will come the 800Mhz FSB to memory.

Now, I know this one will draw huge flames, but I would actually like to see the next gen Intel 965 chipset with integrated video, at least as an option. Honestly, this thing is going to be very good. Not sure that there will be anything to the x1600 anymore, and the x1600 uses more juice, runs hotter and costs more. Before your knees start jerking, check out the Intel 965.

Isn't that in Q2 2007. The initial Merom boards/chipsets will support 533Mhz.

I expect the merom MBPs to be an evolution of the current model with a completely new enclosure/design next year when the new chipsets appear.
