Hi all!

Last night my 2008 Mac Pro decided that I didn't need to do anymore work, the screen went partially pixel-y and then turned off. Now it won't boot up, gets to the boot screen, the screen is pixel-y again and keeps rebooting. The card in there is the original 8800. Could this be a gpu problem?

Secondly, I've searched through the forum and Google and can't find an answer. Will the Mac pro support the nvidia GT 730? I'd rather spend 30/40 quid and it not be the gpu, rather than spending 200 and it still not working...

Thanks :)

Bake the 8800

730 should work but people have been having trouble recently with some of these cards. Read the long Nvidia thread in the stickies

Thanks for the reply! Just shelled out on the 960. But I'll need to update my os (I'm on 10.10.1) and nvidia drivers I believe.

When you say bake? Put it in the oven? What do I need to remove? And how long and what temps?
