I am a heavy sleeper and find it difficult to get up in the morning. So I want a conventional alarm clock but it needs to be original. Either loud or makes me get out of bed.

So far I have found this:

    Clocky

    Thanks

Children, especially babies, are great alarm clocks. Though their programmablility leaves something to be desired.

Got the solar powered ones, eh? I think those are better than the lunar powered ones, don't you think? The lunar powered ones are up all night!

Kittens are excellent too. They have a nice snooze feature... if you don't get up when they paw you in the face, they paw harder and with claw. :(

Awww, sorry to be a hooligan. I just realized you were trying to bring the thread back around. In addition to my kitten, I use my cell.

    First, the useless comment:
How exactly does having a timer to wake you up in the middle if the night help? What if you don't have to go yet (or worse, you already went?)

    Second, the helpful comment:
I remember seeing a clock in the SkyMall catalog that used scented oils, lights, and nature sounds that got progressively louder to wake you up. I'm sure you can find it on Amazon (that was how I came up with Lori's Christmas gift - The World's Largest Crossword Puzzle)

EDIT: I didn't see it on Amazon (I only searched for a second), but here it is on SkyMall

How has the iHome worked out? I remember reading some negative reviews early on, something about poor speaker quality or another. But, I figure that you aren't buying it to be part of your home theater...

    just saw this..

yeah, i'm not an audiophile, so i'm not really sure how great the speaker quality is, but it does the trick for me. i pretty much use it to watch tv shows on my video pod as i go to sleep (and it plays through the ihome speakers of course), and to wake up to. occasionally i'll listen to music in my room with it but my computer is in the next room over so that's fairly rare. overall, i think if you want an alarm clock that works with the pod, it does a great job. if you want a great set of speakers for your pod, there's surely much better (and more expensive) out there. the ihomes go for 100 bucks, but if you have one of those easy to get 20% off one item coupon for linens and things or bed bath and beyond, you can get it for 80. not bad at all
