What's up with your wifi. I would call Comcast and have them refresh your none ion.

Yeah it was weird.

I re-ran again:

iPad Wireless:

16.03 Mbps down
3.50 Mbps up
Ping 68 ms

Desktop wired connection:

24.33 Mbps down
3.68 Mbps
Ping 10 ms

Insane speeds with AT&T in queens, NYC. 53.54 download/20.67 upload. Running just couple of speed tests will chew up your data limit here.

These LTE speeds are insane for both carriers. Luckily I purchased the cellular edition again.

Portland, OR-- NO LTE here yet for AT&T

AT&T HSPA+ (fake 4G)
Ping 93
Down 6.27
Up 1.29

Oregon City,OR (20mins south of portland).

Veriz LTE
19/down - 12.5/up

UPDATE: drove down the street for a TacoBell run. Had LTE full bars and got this speed:

46.5/up - 15.6/down

returned home 2miles away and got the same down speeds in the teens again. What a difference one bar and 2 miles can make sometimes!

Why did that Missouri game have to be so good.... And why did I have to be away from wifi in the final minutes... :-/. I've already used 1/6th of my 3gig monthly allotment in one day... This 4G iPad may have been a bad idea for my wallet :p

Houston TX (Montrose area)

AT&T with 2 bars:

Ping of 50
Down of 12-17
Up of 7-10

Those are ranges of 10 tests in same location over many hours. I haven't opened my Verizon one yet. But if anyone posts better Verizon speeds than that for Houston I may have to.

Brooklyn, NY
Verizon
3 bars LTE
51 MS ping, 9 MBs download and 10 MBs upload. Sometimes the upload showed as high as 17 MBs.

My wifi was showing up as really slow though. On my desktop 25MBs download. But on the iPad 3 I was only getting about 5 MBS download. Strange.

Note that just running test, I burned through about 100 MB of data. I wonder if I'm going to find verizon's 2 GB restrictive? I don't think I ever went about 2Gb on my iPad 1. But then again the data came in a lot slower.

Well we shall see.

At Mohegan Sun in CT. Unfortunately, I live a bit south, and don't have LTE yet. Looks like they are slowly covering CT though. And I don't really need LTE at my house anyways, just where I travel.

Does anyone with AT&T find that they have a solid LTE signal where the 3G signal lacks. I bought a verizon LTE iPad because my 3G service is terrible here. Are they related? They are building a cell tower across from my house in June and am curious how fast that will be.

caveat: I live above the AT&T cell sites in my area. I get reflective signal instead of direct.

outside - mediocre signal:

hopefully I'll go somewhere tomorrow and be able to test with a solid signal.

Looks like LTE is way faster than a Verizon FIOS wired internet.

How can a direct fiber optic cable into your house be slower? Does Verizon throttle the crap out of Fios or what? I can see Comcast being slower cause there fiber you have to share in a node with neigbors then split into your coax line but, crap. What the heck? LTE is wicked fast!

Hope AT&T lights up Philly.

I live in North Dallas (Carrollton). Ordered both the Verizon and the AT&T one, not sure which one I am going to keep - plan on returning one.

But here are my results, and AT&T really suprised me:

AT&T LTE
51.99 Down 22.20 Up
47.56 Down 22.17 Up

Verizon LTE
14.16 Down 8.42 Up
11.83 Down 7.33 Up

And yes, both are in Mb/s. Can't believe how fast AT&T LTE is here in Dallas. AT&T LTE actually beats verizon FIOS speeds here (42.87 Down and 20.15 up). And yes, I checked both iPads to be sure wifi was off and that the tests were actually on the LTE networks.

Looks like I made the right choice with ATT. I need to switch mine out for a scratch in the back panel and was considering switching. I live in Plano now, but im moving to Carrollton next month.

Thanks for posting :)

Verizon sells different tiers of FiOS speeds. Here in NYC, the basic plan is 15Mbps. They up-sell to 25Mbps, 35mbps, and in some areas 50Mbps around here.

Verizon, tested in NY Queens. Can't expect more.

Nice. Here on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Verizon I'm getting 16.67 down and 4.13 up.
