I'm a total noob, but i am trying to learn. Will someone walk me through how to post a picture? Can i do it from iPhoto? I know this is second nature to many but i am really at the beginnings of figuring this out. A referral to a revenant thread would work too. I tried to search.....

Thanks!

You cannot post straight from iPhoto. Your best bet is always to either upload to drop box (public folder) and link or some other photo site like Flickr. You can also save your image as a JPEG or some other supported file type and post straight to the site using the "manage attachments" button found below when you're starting or responding to a new thread.

Clicking this button:

Will result in this pop up box showing up:

There are two main vBulletin tags to know IMG and TIMG (thumbnail image). Click the
insertimage.gif
icon in the edit window to insert the image. Then give it the URL where the image is on the 'net.

If the image is large (like a full desktop screenshot) change that to TIMG this will give you a thumbnail with a link to the full image.

As jessica. suggests the other approach is as an attachment.

If you use the attachment feature you don't need Dropbox or Flickr
It is simple and straightforward

What types of pictures are you wanting to post?

You can also upload straight to the forums. Just click on the little paperclip when creating a post. Then click browse and at the bottom of that Finder window, under Media, click on Photos. You should find your iPhoto library in there.

Imageshack.us is another place many posters seem to use and IIRC they actually give you a button to get the vBulletin code for an image that you can just cut and paste into the edit window.

How to add a picture to a forum post

How to add a picture to a forum post:
ScreenCap 18.PNG
ScreenCap 8.PNG
To add a picture from a website, click the
insertimage.gif
icon and insert the URL. If the picture is very large, change the IMG tags to TIMG.

or

Looks like the IMG tags are being replaced with URL tags now. Interesting.

I iniitally entered

[IMG]http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee432/andyinatl/c6d1d752-1.jpg[/IMG]

Which can be had exactly like that from Photobucket. see "IMG code" on the right side of the screen.

I am curious as to how many people store photos online to make this process easier and eliminate the "attachment" option. I'll have to look into dropbox and see what its all about. I do use Flikr too but mainly to share my wallpapers and such. I dont want a bunch of unprofessional (which I have a lot of) images getting me in trouble. I like to keep the inside jokes inside.

OP, great pic. do you have a bigger resolution and if so do you mind if I add it to my collection? (link in sig)
