Powell Tries to Explain 2001 Remarks on Iraq

    Zim,

    Correct me if I'm wrong but this has all come about as a result of a TV documentary by an Australian journalist (John Pilger) being shown on UK TV (ITV) earlier this week (Breaking the Silence) which contained footage of Powell's speech in 2001.

    If I'm right about that, it begs the question, why the hell does it take foreign journalists to bring this sort of thing to light?

    i guess because, with a few exceptions (krugman, palast, et. al.), the american journalists are too scared.

    thank god the rest of the world cares enough to have a look, where "cares enough" equals "feels threatened enough".

    No, the reason is because the media is really controlled by the conservatives, and the biggest lie that has ever been put over on us is the idea that the media is really liberal.
