powerbook 12in hard drive

i am going to get a new powerbook. what hard drive option should i get. what is everyone getting for the 12inch powerbook. a 40, 60 or 80.

Well it obviously depends based on usage... If your a professional of some sort then you'll likely want the larger drive to store all of your work.. for general usage? I'd say 40gb is enough.. especially if you have an ipod to stash all of your mp3/aacs on..

I agree ---

if you're editing movies (even home videos) or taking lots of photos, then go with 80

otherwise, if its just email and word processing, then 40 is plenty

btw though --- $125 more for an 80 gigger isn't a bad deal

I went with the 60... I have a 40 now, and although it's not full, I can forsee needing those extra 20 gigs during the life of this machine. And the upgrade was only $50.

is there any way of upgrading the hard drive afterwords. once you fill up your hard drive can you install another one on the powerbook 12 inch.

for anyone that has bought their powerbook 12inch. what size of a hard-drive are you going with?

I went with the stock 40GB HDD. JUst had an iBook with a 30 GB, and I never really came that close to filling it, so I figured I would be ok with 40.

Yes, you can install a new HD after you purchase it, but it's not as easy as it used to be with older PBs.

does the 80 gig hard drive get hotter than the 60 gig. does it add more weight?

I'm no expert, but I would think that they weigh the same, and get equally hot since they are the same speed (4200 RPM).

I am almost positive they weigh the same and that they will get equally as hot. the only case in which the 80gig would get hotter if it had higher RPM in which case it would also use more power.

Don't go with the 40 GB if you can help it. The 60 GB drive is such a good deal, and the extra space is always useful (and it gives you more space for partitions).

The 80 GB is a decent deal, but I'd only go for it if you really need the extra space for some reason (like video editing).
