well i purchased a powermac g5 dual 2.7 a few weeks ago and its a great machine. I recently ran into this problem though. I have a set of z-5500 speakers and i had them hooked up to the powermacs rear and front inputs via stereo plug connections, and its been working out pretty well. Suddenly though im getting this huge hissing noise through my z-5500s. I checked the wires and if its my z-5500 causing hiss. The only thing left is the powermac g5. Im wondering what the hell should i do!!!

Check wether the hissing also happens when connected to another source.
Check wether the hissing also happens when connecting another (amplified) output.
Check the cable, put it somewhere else, could be something interfering with the signal.
Maybe, you will have to send it in...

    Good luck

This probably isn't it, but just in case.

My PC speakers hiss when the headphones or stereo cable touch against the bare metal back of the soundcard.

Also, are they hissing when you place a cell phone or other wireless device near them? That can also be a big culprit of speaker noise, at least from my experience.

i dont know about those speakers (like how many inputs, w/e) but perhaps if you have them plugged into both rear and front that's causing the hissing.
oh, about the gsm cell phone/unshielded speaker thing? that freakin' sucks...that happens with my stereo i have hooked up to my emac. i went to compusa this weekend to look for some new speakers and each one i would call my voicemail and hold my phone up to the speakers to see if it buzzed :p didn't notice any strange looks although...
