What is the expected release date of the powermac, for lack of a better term, intel revision? june '06?

Is it going to be similar to the macbook pro update with an internal update without a design revision?

I hope it doesn't come out too quick....still trying to enjoy my Quad.

But in regard to the question, what crazzyeddie said...no one knows right now.

i would probably expect it to be the last of the consumer mac line up to be 'switched' (so not including the xserve!). i would expect the back end of the year. maybe announced in september at which ever expo that is (paris?) and shipping the month after

well thats my guess. or maybe it will come out tomorrow. who knows....steve knows!

thinking about it more, I agree that it would make sense for it to be the last to switch, especially with a quad core model being more than able to handle anything that most people could throw at it...I guess the reason for the post is that I am itching for an upgrade and decided to wait for the intel pro desktops, again for lack of a better name...

also the fact that the people who will be using it are the pro users mainly, and what is the point in releasing the pro computer when there will be a serious lack of universal pro apps to run on it!

i'd say it will be out either WWDC 06' or when all of the major software companys have finished, their universal binaries, (not including adobe)

I'd say pretty late 2006. They want a lot more universal applications to be out there. Furthermore, they need more chip options, to make sure it is faster than the current machines (particularly the quad).

My main pick on Apple's current desktop line is..

    1) I don't need a all in one desktop
    2) Macmini is too weak

That leaves me only the PM , with all the bells and whistles that the PM entails ;) , but it also is going to leave me wanting for a long time
