So I ordered my mac pro on the 8th. It's basically stock because i didn't want to wait on the long shipping times. The only changes i made were I added bluetooth, wireless keyboard and BT mighty mouse, and i reduced the hard drive to 160GB. This config gave me a ship time of 3-5 days which i was happy with. I would have liked AE as i have wireless set up in my home, and I also would have liked to get the x1900 XT because i plan to use this for gaming every now and then, but the shipping time would have been too long to bare :p. I just told myself i'd run some cables and deal with the 7300 until i needed an upgrade.

Let me say again, this machine was ordered on the 8th.... it's Still Not Here!!!

Apple probably thinks it is though. They shipped it though Same Day Right-O-Way. On Apple's website it says that it was shipped on the 16th. However, Same Day tells me that Apple released the orders much earlier than the product actually shipped. Same Day didn't receive my Mac Pro until the 27th .

This really makes me mad because had i known that my order was going to take so long I would have cancelled it and added the AE and x1900 XT anyway. But Apple told me it was shipped so there was nothing i could do besides believe them.

I also have to send in the UPC codes for the free Nano by the 7th and Same Day is telling me not to expect the machine until Tuesday because Monday is a holiday (Labor Day).

I'm mad, but should I be? any advice on what i should say to Apple regarding the student nano promotion?

i do sympathize with your anger, i really do.

you said same day said apple released the order (elaborate?) much earlier than the 16th, but they didn't get til the 27th? from my understanding the shipping process is that, once apple tell the carrier that the package is ready to be shipped, the shipping company comes by and pick it up, and from that point, it's all the shipping company's... your case might be different, worth finding out

you filed your nano promotion without the UPC from the mac pro? well, i dont know what to say... why again do you have to file the nano by the 7th? and even if you do, you can file it on tuesday, which is 5th... and wednesday is the 6th, and thursday is the 7th... however if you file an incomplete one... again, you'd want to confirm with apple... you can just tell them the situation...

It has to be postmarked by the 7th, correct? If that's the case then it shouldn't be a problem. Stinks about the shipping time though, shipments to Canada usually take a little longer but thats a little ridiculous.

ok, i'll try to clear up the whole shipping thing... My Mac Pro was supposed to be shipped on the 15th, but it was delayed and Apple sent me an email saying it's new estimated ship date was the 24th. However, on the 16th Apple sent me another email stating that the Mac Pro had been sent. After calling Same Day they informed me that Apple had done this with numerous orders of Mac Pro's in Canada and that it never actually shipped on the 16th like Apple told me. Same Day can only track the shipment once it's in Canada, and they told me they received it on the 27th which leads me to believe that the Mac Pro actually was shipped out on the 24th and not the 16th.

As far as the iPod thing goes I haven't filed it with only the Nano's upc code, i am waiting for the Mac Pro so it's actually complete. But I also only have 30 days from the date of purchase which was the 8th.

in the case of buying from their online store, it's 30 days from shipping date... that's on the invoice, check if two shipments are made, whether the take the latter date (which i think they should)

Well, Good News :)... I just got off the phone with Apple, and just like I thought the customer service rep truely thought the machine was shipped out on the 16th and that I should have had it by now. They weren't overly pleased about Same Day telling me that Apple had errored in their shipment. The lady was very helpful and talked with her supervisor and offered me a $100 credit off my purchase :D.

I also explained about the iPod promotion and she assured me that there would be plenty of time and that the whole 30 days isn't strictly enforced and that i had up to as much as 45 days.

Looks like i'll be ordering that x1900 XT card pretty soon.
