When i'm in Windows on my mac every so often the mouse will either stop working or shoot insanely stupidly around the screen when i try to move it. I have tried the Apple Touchpad driver and the normal windows driver. Both of them come to the same result. Any ideas how i can fix it?

I've had this problem in Windows and OS X. For me, it has had nothing to do with the machine, and more to do with my ineptitude. Sometimes I drag more than one finger across the trackpad, or don't dry my hands off completely after washing them. iBook, MacBook, even PC notebooks; it's just a track/touchpad thing.

Multiple fingers or moisture really screwed around with the trackpad. If this isn't your problem I don't really know what to tell you.. I suppose there is a chance it could be hardware related (odd since it doesn't seem to occur in OS X), but even if it were I doubt AppleCare would cover problems that only happen in Windows.

Well it's nothing to do with my hand because when the problem started i asked 3 other people in my house to try the touchpad to the same result. It seems to be in the software as i have no trouble with OS 10

    Thanks for the help :)

In that case, telling us a little more about your machine would be helpful. Which model are running on? Is your Windows installation updated? Are there any specific circumstances that seem to conjure this problem?

I have the exact same problem...

Latest bootcamp - same machine (upgrading ram tomorrow) - mouse has odd behaviour in windows.
sometimes it "freezes" but I have discovered it is actually stuck in some kind of "scroll mode" as there happened to be an open window with big scroll bars that I could alt-tab to...

Other times it just responds erratically.

It doesn't happen very often but is almost certainly software related (it's fixed with a reboot for example)

    Any thoughts appreciated

    Nick

Exactly the same problem as i have. If you try to use the mouse when it's frozen and it's on a window with scroll bars it scrolls the page up and down but the mouse will not move. Same problem.

Yup, I have the same problem. It's definitely a driver issue from Apple on XP operating system for the touchpad. I don't have this problem in OS X or when I plug in an external mouse in XP. It bugs the hell out of me when I am doing an time sensitive task.
