Typical Apple...let's concentrate so hard on making the next Rev (of anything) thinner, lighter, and using crazy materials so that we keep delaying launches (whether publicly admitted or not).

To a point, yes, people like their electronic devices thin and small. But after awhile, a)it's ineffective (what if you had a phone that was a light as a human hair...bet you would have a hard time holding and using it) and b)boring to get those 2 qualities as the new main features.

I welcome Apple's eye for sexy-looking devices but at the end of the day, when it's time to release version 5, I'm looking for other improvements (because for 4 versions we've been getting "thinner and lighter" as features. The list is a mile long of what iOS needs...and IMO iOS does NOT need a total revamp and pretty color schemes and new UI...it just needs all the missing features it's been lacking for 6 releases now.

Delays because Apple can't make a purple iPad are ridiculous...just like the white iPhone fiasco a few years ago.

This news certainly doesn't help Apple and its stock...4 months into the year with no teasers or decent rumors on anything NEW...just churn out another iPhone, iPad, and maybe iPod. Yawn. And investors are yawning, too.

Samsung can launch three or four different phone models each year of various sizes and Apple can't even upgrade it's one phone product without experiencing delays?

All those features don't make sense with the current UI. A new UI is needed in order to get those features to begin with.

I know I sound like a broken record, but why does Apple insist on releasing their entire product line up in one sitting?

Look at all the gullible folks on here. Half this stuff is total unconfirmed dreck and you are just lapping it up. It's ver possible that there is no retina mini planned for this year, no watch, no TV, no radio, no low cost anything. Just cause some analyst claims to have secret sources doesn't make it fact

You missed the part where I said "Besides, if this report is accurate...”

I don't get this. Why does it need a bigger screen? Why do people want a bigger screens? The iphone screen size is perfect right now. Larger screened phones are uncomforatble to hold and don't fit as nicely in pockets.

And how are these things delayed? Unless Apple states a specific release date and then is unable to meet that date, you can't consider something delayed.

Apple should provide more options on screen size. It isn't hard to make a larger phone, in fact it is easier because more space to work with. The developers won't care about fragmentation of the market since the iOS market is so huge and already fragmented between original iPhone, iPhone 5, iPad mini and iPad. It is simple to add that one last screen size between the 5 and the mini and settle in to those sizes for a few years. Each size will soon grow to 100 million users and so it will be worth every developers time to port their applications to cover every size.

Now, I personally don't want a larger phone. In fact I'd rather slimmer 3.5" iPhone over the iPhone 5. And I think most people want a small phone. But there are some that want a big phone, let them have it and make money providing it. It is easy enough.

This article is a joke. It says absolutely nothing besides an analyst changing his own predictions that are based on ... nothing. Publicly available information and technology trends??? Come on!

The second Samsung becomes responsible for The hardware, the Operating System, the infrastructure related to selling apps/movies/music/video, and has its own retail stores where most of its customers buy its products then you might have a point.

As it stands you're comparing what Apple does by itself for iPhone with what it takes Samsung, Google, Amazon, and Best Buy combined to do for Android.

All those features don't make sense with the current UI. A new UI is needed in order to get those features to begin with.

What features are you referring to? Here is a small list I have compiled (and submitted to Apple over the years)...NONE of which need a new UI:

-inability to keep photos/videos from being deleted. There should be a switch in Settings do disable the delete/trashcan function. This would help when kids grab your phone or a malicious attack...or simply you want to allow your kids/friend to look at your pix but not accidentally nuke them.

-can't send emails with over 4MB of attachments. What year is it now? Oh yea, 2013 where Gmail and Yahoo and Hotmail have 25MB limits while most ISPs have 10-20MB limits. Ridiculous, Apple.

-can't get the videos off the iPhone...well, not via iTunes anyway. Terrible! I have to hook it up TO A COMPUTER. Or I can buy an App that will *wirelessly* send them to another iOS device or computer.

-videos recorded at the wonderful hi-def on the iPhone get pushed to cruddy quality when pushed to Youtube or an email attachment. Um....why?!!? It's 2013...a 50MB video file is nothing. And regardless if it's WIFI or cell carrier, it's my data plan...let me worry about my data usage. So all these 1080 vids are essentially stuck on my camera at full quality. Therefore, WHAT'S THE POINT of having 1080 if I can't show it 1080 somewhere else?!

-video clips sent via email are limited to 40 seconds if I remember correctly. Lovely.

-browser still has major caching problems. Why does it do a full refresh of the page when I come back to my phone 2 minutes later?

-when a big web page is taking awhile to load, I want to open a new tab and go somewhere else while the other tab loads like I've been doing on personal computers for 15+ years now. Impossible on the iPhone...as soon as I move away from the tab, the loading stops.

-still tied to iTunes...talk about lock-in.

-Can only sync wirelessly with iTunes if the phone is plugged into the electrical outlet...um....why?!

-The only way to see just the videos is to go through the Camera app, click on the little left bottom corner icon, then select Videos. Why the heck can't I just go to Photos and see the same VIDEOS tab at the top?! It has been this way for YEARS! So I need to go through all these extra finger clicks to get there.

-No parental controls for websites...Apple, in their let's-censor-everything-in-App-Store can't even provide a simple black-list of 10,000 websites my kids can't visit. Or a password to access Safari.

-No parental controls for youtube...something should be available here. What about a password to access Youtube?

-Only shows last ~10 days worth of calls...WHAAAT?! This could easily be a user setting. This seems to be a limit on # of calls vs. # of days...I'm not sure but for me rarely using my iPhone for calls, I get about 7-10 days worth of in/outbound call history.

-Safari History isn't so great...stuff is always missing from 3-4 days ago. And the type-ahead feature of the URL bar is nice, but again, 3-4 days later the history. It should be more like 30-60 days or have a user setting.

-Safari type-ahead URL feature pales compared to any traditional browser released in the past 5+ years.

-Email attachments (especially Office and PDF) cannot be saved to my iPhone...I am forced to always go back to the email. That's about as unhandy as can be.

Yawn yawn yawn ... More chitter chatter about nothing of interest whilst Apple still fail to get their act together and bring out anything new or half decent! No wonder everyones jumping ship to Android and Windows ... WTF are apple doing in their shiny offices!!!!!

They're in there making sure they have their ducks lined up so they don't end up with any issues, surprises, or bad publicity. They have their act together, which is why we aren't seeing them announce something before it's ready. I think the rumors of the delay in iOS/OS X are making that clear. When it's ready, the results will be more than half decent (you can come back later and make fun of me if I'm wrong). As for jumping ship... with many different manufacturers churning out different Android phones each year, there will always be "something new" or at least a modification to a similar theme. For those who constantly need something new or different, they may be better off with Android. It doesn't make sense for Apple to start releasing a slew of different products to cater to every aspect of every market or desire. It's not in their DNA.

Fingerprint sensor on a phone ?

Why ?

Am I the only one who thinks that's just dumb ?

Nope, I think it's kind of goofy myself. As far as things I would like to have on my phone or for it to be able to do a fingerprint sensor is really on the bottom of the list.

That being said if it's as fast as "slide to unlock" and doesn't interfere with or screw up trying to unlocking my phone I wouldn't really care if it's there. I just have a feeling it's going to be more of a headache then not. But then again I'm not paranoid about someone getting in to my phone and would hope there is an option to shut it off.

Other possibility: Apple really has doubled down on secrecy, and now that no one has any idea whatsoever as to what they're doing, they are being forced to pull random things out of their @$$es.

Who knew there were so many whiners in one place?

Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe these "analysts" are claiming delays because they realize their original productions were just wrong??

Because we all know the analysts are always right...

So they are going to announce a new iPhone in August instead of July?

What happened to Apple? That's like a -1 month delay compared to iPhone 5.:confused:

Guided Access.

-can't send emails with over 4MB of attachments. What year is it now? Oh yea, 2013 where Gmail and Yahoo and Hotmail have 25MB limits while most ISPs have 10-20MB limits. Ridiculous, Apple.

iOS Mail has no attachment size limits.

Or email. Or iMessage.

No, it doesn't.

-still tied to iTunes...talk about lock-in.

You never have to download iTunes.

-Can only sync wirelessly with iTunes if the phone is plugged into the electrical outlet...um....why?!

That's not true.

You can go to the Photos app to see videos in your camera roll.

-No parental controls for websites...Apple, in their let's-censor-everything-in-App-Store can't even provide a simple black-list of 10,000 websites my kids can't visit. Or a password to access Safari.

You can enable parental controls to restrict access to Safari.

-No parental controls for youtube...something should be available here. What about a password to access Youtube?

That's a Google app now.

-Email attachments (especially Office and PDF) cannot be saved to my iPhone...I am forced to always go back to the email. That's about as unhandy as can be.

They can be saved in any app that can open them.
