I have received many suggestions that I need a new Avatar. My current one was courteously donated by vinow. It is one that I have had for for more that one year. So I'm open to a new Avatar. I would prefer a subtle animation, is that is proposed. I do like blue. Otherwise I'm not really sure what I want. Possibilities, my last name, Mac, medical, or Apple.

I hoping that I will get a lot of suggestions from my friends here on the forum. It would be awesome to have a lot of entries. Anyone is also more than welcome to help me choose. It would be better if others like the new Avatar also.

    Let the fun begin!

Something with the blue man group? That combines the blueness and since they use Apples....

This one is my first try at making an avatar. Don't know how big they can be (this one is 75 x 75 pixels and 85 kb, probably a little too large). But it has elements of your old one, is blue, and folding/medical, and is bouncy (nice). But mostly it is to get the real people with some skill to help you!

Awww. That's so sweet. I agree, but it's very sweet. ;)

If I think of something, it would embody Boston in some way. I'm always thinking of Boston when I read wdlove's posts. But it's hard to come up with a good av that embodies the city unless it's sports related, and I know wdlove isn't interested in sports. Hmmm.

I just thought of one. If I were a better artist, I would do it myself. Start with the apple logo. Then a worm corkscrews out of it. 'Cause, you know--apples and worms. Also, it wouldn't be clear whether it was really a worm or a snake. And apples and snakes--well that has religious connotations, and wdlove is one of the more religious regulars here. As the snake corkscrews up, the apple would slide off the bottom of the screen. Then, at the end, a staff with wings would slide down inside the coiled snake, making the medical symbol. Thus 3 different themes would be encapsulated in one av.

I like that....also was thinking of somehow incorporating the "RX" symbol due to his work in the medical field, and maybe make the "X" part of it be the OS X Panther "x". Again, a mix of themes.

(sheesh, I don't post for ages, and when I come back, what do I do? I get all excited about suggestions for changing wdlove's 'tar. Silly me!)

It's nice to have you back, btw. You couldn't have picked a more rumor-starved period of time to be gone. How do you like the place after all the remodeling?

Thanks, buddy. I must admit, the remodel shocked me, but I'll get used to it...after all, I got used to OS X after being an OS 9 snob for years. : )

"And now, back to our regularly scheduled program....wdlove and his 'tar."

Yeah. Whats up with 19.5 anyway? :( Boooo. It took me forever to make Mr. Turtle fit within criteria!

Well, even with 39k for the mods its tough to do big things with 75x75....

that's 2.25x more pixels than the 50x50 we all had before. So you all got bigger tars, but kept the limitations on having them animated.

Oh well....over at CGtalk they allow 100x100 but it has to be under 10k!

But they also have 73,000 members....

The 19.5 is actually pretty good. I just like to complain! :)

How about the Apple logo wearing a stethoscope (kind like how the Pepsi logo's wearing those headphones lately, but classier)? Just as long as it doesn't ask you to open up and say "ah....." :p

If I had Photoshop and time I would mock something up....

could you imagine that site with a whole bunch of animated 'tars? It would be a bit nuts - but as far as I'm concerned the members over there have the best avatars out of any web forum. Great stuff.

Thank you guys for the kind words. Nice to see the real nice entries so far. I can see that thought has been used in the proposals. They are on track, remember the blue theme also.

It's nice to have you back voiceguy.

The whole site blows me away. The artists there are out of this world.
