I do video editing on both mac and pc's. I really like itunes bc it is legal and I feel like I am not cheating the artist. But, If I want to download a song it only comes on aac. My video editing application, vegas video 4, does not recognize this type of file. I have downloaded songs from ituens and tried to convert them to mp3 so I can import them into Vegas, but nothing ever comes from that? Is their a way I can convert these protected files to mp3 for Vegas or should I just stop using itunes. I just feel like I am not getting my money's worth if I have these restrictions.

    thanks

download the song and then buy it to get rid of the guilt?

    That is a possible solution.

Depending on the use of the video, you can be infringing copyright by using the song, regardless of whether or not you buy it from the iTMS.

If you haven't already, brush up on DMCA restrictions and how they apply to your situation.

You could always burn a CD and then import the song as an MP3.

Really though, I think the question shouldn't be "should I stop using iTunes?", but rather "should I start using Final Cut Pro/Express?" ;-)
