when you open a photo in Photoshop, does the image look darker than the original??

i dont know if its just the macs or what, because my roomates dont have that problem in their pc.

sure i can adjust the colors to match the original but its a pain to do for every image i open.

    does anyone have a solution?

Macs do have a different default monitor gamma compared to Windows machines. You can calibrate your display (and change the gamma) in the color tab of Displays preferences in System Preferences. I don't know much about that whole issue, but I have to figure that the fact that Macs are very popular for graphics shows that there's nothing wrong with the way they display pictures. Nevertheless, you might want to calibrate your display. There's a wizard sort of thing that walks you through the process. It's pretty easy.
