Hello, this is probably a stupid question but...

I just bought myself a used PSX, and so far seems to be working well. However, every once in a while it makes a 'bzzz' sound, usually while loading etc. Just wondering if it's normal for a PSX to be a bit noisy. I'm assuming it is, as they're fairly old and I know my N64 is fairly noisy too, but I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Thank you, glad to hear that!

I'm really fond of this PS1, and I haven't even had it a day yet

    Psx

Everytime I see PSX I think of that $1k DVR PS2. It never left the shores of Japan, but the GUI made it into the PSP.

Your N64 is noisy? Thats pretty much next to impossible considering its a cartridge based system and there are no moving parts!

    N64 noise

Yeah, that's the first I've heard of this. We even had a thread rating the noise level of consoles and I've never heard of this.

I had completely forgotten about this until about a month ago when I dug out my old N64 to play Majora's Mask. I got it plugged in and turned on, and was convinced it was broken as I couldn't hear any noise - until I realised about the whole cartridge thing (and the power light  ).

My PS2 on the other hand sounds like vacuum cleaner.

Hmmm, well I remember something about noise, though I haven't played it in a while... maybe I'm thinking of another system. I was pretty sure it had a bit of a sound though. oh well I'll go find out later on
