Well summer is here and I have nothing to do. I'm off of school and the same goes for work. I had a job but I don't go anymore because business is slow.

As a result I stay home bored out of my mind with nothing to do. I live on this computer and if I have to do this for 2 more months I may loose sanity.

My mom suggested I teach older people how to use computers and put ads in the paper for repairs/upgrades.

    Any ideas? Please I'm desperate.

wow, i'm in exactly the same position. i wish i could just find something to fill the time. spending £40/week on itunes is really killing my bank balance

maybe you should get a hobby? there was a thread here in CD a while ago about people's hobbies.. :)

I'm not good at programming and although I do like r/c planes as a hobby, I'm looking to make money not spend.

Check if there are any volunteer groups in the area who need help perhaps to set up a small database for them to email newsletters out etc but don't understand the basic principles.

Or take advantage of the summer and see if you can do anything working outdoors - for older people who can't keep up their garden and can't afford maintenance men. Might not help your pocket but your good samaritan side will be rich.

Why don't you do some volunteer work or learn how to do something you've been meaning to pick up?

Got access to some wheels? Man, I'd take a road trip out west. Won't cost you much $$$ if you have a tent and a stove and maybe a pack.

My plan for this summer is to get down the gym as much as possible and make up for some serious college slack. I also plan on getting a menial job so i don't have to use my brain for a while - also due to college.
    I can't wait!

That sounds like a blast :p I used to love to take off with no destination and just my camping stuff. You live in New Orleans, correct? Here's the treck (East) to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina :D

You can volunteer at someplace like an animal shelter or a hospital, or what I used to do is put together a list of books I wanted to read and try to complete them by the end of summer. At least you'll expand your knowledge.

Also, you might be able to work at a local community college, perhaps in a computer lab or in the library.

I'm sure you'll find something productive to do.

Yeah, but work can be a lot of more interesting when it isn't.

echo......Do some volunteer work, and while you are being a postitive in the universe, it looks GREAT on your future resume.

Habitat and Red Cross always need people. You may also make contacts that will help you in the future. There are soup kitchens, homeless shelters, blood drives, habitat builders, meals on wheels,........

Maybe you can intern somewhere for minimum wage. Like at a web design place or something.

Maybe my efforts will be rewarded a wee bit more quickly than your quest for a prom date. :D ;) Just kidding.

Then a girlfriend would most likely be counter-productive.
