A couple questions about iOS 5 installation on my iPod Touch --

    1. I assume an upgrade to Lion on my desktop is not necessary. Is that right?

    2. With the iOS upgrade, will the music stay on my iPod, or will I have to start from scratch and re-load the music? The reason I ask is I've got about 55 gb of music on the iPod, which includes several thousand tracks that are not in my iTunes library (re-ripped at lower bit rates).

    Thanks.

Bump - anyone know the answer to this? I'm more inclined to attempt the upgrade if I won't have to re-load the music, a project that could take several days.

    An upgrade isn't necessary.

Back up your iPod before you update the software. I got some error while updating my iPod software, and I had to restore it and let all of my music and apps onto the iPod. Maybe some others didn't have to do this.

The installation is a little buggy right now so I wouldn't rely on it.
