I fear that my brand new ibook's harddrive might be weakening on me. If it fails and I need a new harddrive, will I be able to use the same serial number for my office installation cd? I don't want to use up another of the 3 you get when you buy it simply because the computer they sold me has a garbage harddrive.

Of course... there's little chance that the old instance of Word (with the same serial number) will be running at the same time as the new one, right...? ;)

Asides from which if you ring Microsoft up and explain the situation to them they'll allow you to activate 4, 5, 6 plus times - tried it in the past.

no worries, just when you need to activiate it explain to MS what happened. I've done it with Windows on the same machine for years!
