I just got my MBP yesterday and today I loaded up Aperture. When I tried to run it for the first time I got an error message which said I don't have the minimum spec requirements to run Aperture.

I was very surprised. I have the 2.16ghz model with 1gb ram. Surely this is enough to run Aperture? Has anyone with an MBP gotten a similar message?

    What did you do?

Have you updated Aperture to the most current version? Do that, then report back.

Just a suggestion, trying to knock out the most obvious before tackling the harder problems.

Have you updated it yet? Aperture was only recently updated to Universal and it was via the online Software Update. I don't think the Universal version is in boxes yet.

Aperture runs on a MBP fine (I use it every day on MBP 2.16). And he's right about the UB updates - Aperture does not run under Rosetta. Download the updates before you start using it. True with any app you install.

Glad you got it working. Some tips that will help you learn a lot in about 2 hours:

    1) Watch the included DVD tutorial.

    2) Watch apple's free online training.

There are so many things I didn't even know it could do because I jumped right in. I watched the these things and it all became crystal. All in, it will be 2 hours well spent. :)

I have a questions for you:

how much faster? i am wanting to get a MBP to replace my 2.1ghz 1.5gb iMac G5. I use Aperture ALOT. Will the speed increase be very noticeable. Right now the iMac will poke around pretty slowly.

i dont know how much you know about this, but would it be worth waiting for the Merom MBPs? Do you think the resell value of my iMac will take a very big hit in the time I am waiting?

    thanks so much
