Okay, About 6 months ago a friend of mine sold me a powermac G5 1.8 (clear 17" apple monitor included) 2 gig mem for 1400.00. Last week He somehow got his hands on a apple macbook pro 15". I am into graphics mostly (photoshop, illustator. web design) and he is into music production protools). He told me pro tool will not run on the macbook pro. Of course he called me today asking would I trade the g5 for is macbook pro. Hmmmm. Would it benefit me more by having the macbook pro or should i stay with the g5?

Without a doubt go with the Pro. It's an older iMac, doesn't have isight and whatnot, plus stuff's really heating up with the intel computers. Switch, switch, switch. Sure you'll have to run adobe under Rosetta with the MBP, but it shouldn't be too much slower than on the iMac, or you can use Windows versions and run them natively

I agree with everyone else that you should trade with him to get the MacBook Pro, but what does this statement mean?
Did he get his "hands on it" in a legal way?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he say it was a Power Mac?

Anyway I would definitely go for the MacBook Pro. It's a lot more future-proof and it's portable. I would imagine it also has more resale value.
