I use a Sony HDR FX1000, and I need to buy a new computer for video editing. I'll be using Adobe CS6. Before I buy a new iMac, I want to make sure my camera will be compatible with thunderbolt. I know there are firewire to thunderbolt adaptors available pretty cheap, but I just read that sometimes these adaptors will not work effectively with some older HDV cameras.

Has anyone tried to use a firewire to thunderbolt adaptor on a newer iMac with a Sony HDR FX1000? I'd really like to get to the bottom of this before I drop 2 grand on a new computer. Thanks for your help!
