I'm a small UK business which has just signed up to become a developer for the App store, since paying and logging in, its asking me to fill in the W-8Ben form?

Does anyone know anything about this, and do i need to do this if i'm a UK Business?
Also does anyone know, what rate it cuts the tax down to for UK sellers?

Also if your from the UK, will we have to pay over VAT for sales of our apps?

My experience is that if you fill in the contract form in iTunes Connect, you are automatically emailed a W-8BEN form, already filled in. Just sign it and put it in the post.

Once you have done this, you will not pay any tax in the US. As for the UK, it depends if you are VAT-registered or not. If you are not VAT-registered, you do not need to pay VAT until your earnings cross the VAT threshold (which I can't remember just now).

There is a lot of useful information in this thread:

I used the '9 zeros' approach and it worked - I've just got my contract! :).

VAT is taken off the royalty price by Apple, you don't pay it. You ALWAYS have to pay VAT, you just don't have to file VAT returns until you cross the threshold of £67k.

I assume you've registered your business? Then Inland Revenue should send you a leaflet on VAT.
