    So two weeks ago I purchased a built to order blackbook, 160 GB Hard Drive and 2 GB RAM. When I was researching a purchase, I mostly noticed threads about problems. With all respect to those very helpful comments, I just thought I'd post here about how happy I am with mine. There are NO dead pixels, it's very quite, the heat is NOT a problem and the build quality is excellent. I'd call it perfect and I love it. Just a quick thought.

    How do you like your 17" macbook pro? Do you have any problems with that? I have been looking to purchase one.

    Thank you for posting this. It's about time we hear about someone really happy with their purchase.

    You hear more about the problems than you do the non-problems, so thank you again for posting some good feedback.

    Well, I need to update my signature, as I sold it recently to help pay for my macbook and one for my girlfriend. The Core Duo Macbook Pro was a terrific too. It was just a bit too big afterall. It was a tad on the warm side, but nothing terrible.

    let me ask you this:
    since you got a black one, when you put your wrists on the panel, or your finger on the mouse pad, does the grease from your fingers make it shiny in places.
    that was what made me get a white one when i saw the ones at the mac store.

    Yes. I clean my computer everyday. I thought it'd be a problem, but it really takes a few seconds. Plus, the grease is on the whitebook too, it just shows up more on the blackbook and I'm compelled to clean it more often, which in the long run, I guess, will be a good thing. Plus it cleans up to like new condition. There aren't any permanent stains.

    Cool, This is exactly the config I plan on picking up in a week or two after Macworld.
    160GB - That's the Perpendicuar drive right?

    I went in to Cancom (UK) to check out the difference between white & black -
    The white one had gone grey near the trackpad for all the greasy customers trying it out and the black one just looked clean.

    Also as I'm using the laptop for gigging I plan on getting this sticker made up.

    Check it out

    I'm certain it is. My MBP had the 100GB HD @ 7200RPM. Startup on the MB is a tad slower. That said, it's still fast. Other than that, I've not noticed any difference in speed doing daily stuff like Word, Mail, Safari, DVD, etc.

    What do you use to clean the grease off? Some say that they weren't able to get the grease off of their spacebar and trackpad. I am just curious of your cleaning technique.
