i must ask what the hell is wrong with apple. they paid off a ton of people to get them to say apple started the "digital audio revolution" with itunes, yea right, and ipod, like they made the first player of mp3s both in software and hardware, but their main app for movies and playback is quicktime and it can't even use mpeg layer 3 audio encoding. how pathetic. i was hoping quicktime 6 would fix this, but instead, apple did thw worst of the pc world, they added in a new format they want people to encode and conform to. and in quicktime 7 i'm sure they'll do it again, why can't they just do something right for once, they are so behind in technology it's not funny, and for whatever reason they aren't fixing this, it's a dumb reason b/c what is the point of a computer, to do the things you want. well, pcs can run any movies i want, no matter what encoding, and games better, they can encode faster, they mutlithread better, use better hardware, so where is apple? why can't they just release a fix or soemthing, tired of going through a 20 minute ordeal with my g4 powerbook waiting to convert my divx movies and mpeg movies just so i can play them, it's sad apple is falling so far behind. maybe you guys don't want to admit it, but they are.

by your logic, people should all have been happy with technology of old and not have created mp3 format at all. your argument is inherently conflicting itself.

they are adding the new format to qt 6 because it is SUPERIOR to the current formats. you can get great quality with very high compression. this is what the web needs for sure. and ideally, it will become a standard so that it's cross platform.

and yet you say they are behind in technology... interesting theory.

sure, pcs often run faster and they are more heavily used... but did you happen to see the stuff introduced today? how many of those things are totally new and haven't been touched on pcs? perhaps "ink" and the ip address searching technology.

you seem so sure that apple is soooo far behind in everything, why do you waste your time on an apple based web board?
