Just upgraded to quicktime pro so I could convert videos to put on my phone.

Though I have now discovered when converting files from Mpeg to 3gp, audio is lost on the 3gp files. Is there a way around this problem...which hopefully doesn't require me to purchase a new application as I've already spent £20 on quicktime pro.

download and use ffmpegx to demux the mpg file. the go to the apple website and download the free applescripts. Open the 2 demuxed files, the audio and video then use the command form the scripts menu "merge movie 1 into movie 2". from there u will have a .mov that u can export with out losing the audio.

I just tried this and noticed that the options have audio disabled and there doesn't seem to be a way to enable it.

Thanks. Managed to demux the file... can you go into detail about the applescripts. I have no idea what to do. Which script do I need?

Ok after some searching i found the scripts or Applets as apple refers to them and you can download them here:
    http://www.apple.com/applescript/quicktime/

Follow the install instructions, then follow the instructions i gave before, the attached image should help. The only thing is i forgot how to add the scripts menu to the menu bar, its been so long since i've had to do so, if there are anymore problems im sure i or another member can help.

You guys didn't read my post above. Quicktime doesn't let you enable the audio track for some reason. It's disabled and grayed out.

oh, well in my defense i havent done any of the conversion myself, i only know the steps because i use the method to take movies from my digital camera into imovie. Im surprised no one else has found a solution.
