R.I.P. Voice Recording?

    The top controller port is gone. Also, if you view the quicktime demos, you'll notice that Voice Memos is gone from the Extras menu. Is this right? Did Apple just take away one feature for another?

    My hope is Apple left a backdoor for Griffin or someone else to create a work around. Hope.... :confused:

    Oh crap... that also means esixting iTrips are now outdated.... How are they going to work from now on?

    Well, it would seem that there may be 4 newly freed pins on the dock connector since FireWire no longer appears to be supported in the nano and new iPod. :( (Of course they probably can't reallocate the FW power pins since those are proably used by lots of third party add ons, but the data pins are fair game).

    Seriously, IIRC the top connector just replicates the serial pins that are already on the dock connector, and also provides power to the add-on devices. So new devices will no doubt be made that hook up to the dock connector, such as the BelkinTuneBase.
