    i have 2GB of ram on my 24-inch intel core 2 duo iMac, in activity monitor:

    this what i see, so am i running alot of thingz??? well not reali , itunes, amsn, safari , ichat and growl i guess are the big ones so i does it say in free: 530.98 MB, and used 1.48GB...so if why hadn't ordered my imac with extra Gb upgrade i would have been in trouble today??

    If you weren't running that Translate process, you'd be Rosetta-free...

    then y am i running it??/ what program is it runninG! can i end process , will something happen??

    You shouldn't be pokin' around where you don't know what you're doing.

    In UNIX you have wired, active, inactive and free. You need to watch wired and active. Inactive stores data like a RAM drive of currently unused data if you want to see it that way, this is all good!

    Also look out for page outs, this should be zero or small (less than 100,000).

    ohh ok now that makes alot for sense , thx for the explaination, i was wondering how i could be using up that much memory , but i guess wired and active is what am really using , aight peice of mind :D

    Are page outs cumulative over time? Do they only reset on a restart/shutdown?

    ya i wanna know this to??/ i understand ram but

    and what are page outs....what do those numbers mean.....
