Hi... my searches are coming up empty. Can anybody recommend a good (or at least free) file backup and document sync utility? For example, if I have 600 MB worth of current documents and files on a USB key that I want to keep sync'd with the folder on myt hard drive.

Does backup from .mac do this? I'm still pretty new to Mac and getting a bit lost in sync, backup, etc.

Thanks.

I would recommend giving rsync a go. It is operated through the terminal so can be a bit daunting if you're not used to the command line (I'm certainly no expert!) but is actually fairly simple, free (already on your machine) and very quick.

e.g. you just have to open the terminal and type

"rsync -vaE ~/Documents/ /Volumes/USBkeyname/Documents/"

or vice versa or whatever folders you want to sync. It only copies the documents updated since last time so is very fast. It does heaps more powerful stuff but I am a novice.

Just had a quick look and there is a GUI for osx called rsyncX
Hope it helps
Cheers
