Recording through computer application

I've heard of an application that could do something like this but i didn't know of the name of it.

Anyway, does anyone know of an app that can record what you see on your monitor?

Kinda like a screen shot, but instead of just one shot, a whole recording?

So i got Snapz Pro X 2, but now when i use it it lags up my computer heaps.

Does anyone know if i'm doing anything wrong, or how to optimize performance?
