Which one is better? I know you can get great prices on refreshed items, but which one is better?

    What does refreshed mean anyway?

Is there anything wrong with either computer, do they come with a warranty?

Have you ever purchased a refreshed or refurbished product and tell us how it worked out for you...

Questions from someone who has only purchased new....and wants to save some money buy not purchasing new.

Don't they give a new chasis to refreshed machines?

Not too sure on that, so here's just a post to get this thread bumped up :)

Um... not sure what "refreshed" is, but do not buy a demo model.

Refreshed is a machine that somebody buys and then returns because they can't afford it, can't get the loan, or wife gets upset.....just regular situations causing them to bring it back. Like a 20" display that you buy, then you get home and say....shoot I wish I would have bought the 23". You take it back 2 days later and get the 23". That's refreshed.

The problem with Store Demos is that they're abused like crazy. They have tons of scratches/scuffs and everyone that goes into the store touches and plays with it.

    refurbished

I have only ever bought refurbished items (tight budget). Both my ipod and my Pbook are refurbished. I have warranty on both and neither has ever given me any trouble. (1.5 year old ipod, 8 month old pbook). The only drawback that I can think of is that you have to take whatever they have i.e. you can't super customize...but I have always been able to find what I need refurbished and usually for less than it would have cost me otherwise. Good Luck!

Got my powerbook as refurbished, and I've never been able to tell what was not new about it. Full warranty, no unsightly blemishes, and all the same hardware problems the new ones were having 2 years ago :)

I see no benefit of new over refurbished except the refurbished one you want may not be immediately available. Sometimes they don't come in the original packaging too.

I've never heard of "refreshed" is that an Apple Store thing? Your definition of refreshed sounds like refurbished...
EDIT: Ah, it is just an in-store thing.

If you're concerned, I'd recommend doing a search of the forums. There are many threads on folks' experiences with refurbs.
