I imagine there will be quite a few of these given the stories of people getting through two machines until they are happy.

Hopefully they will be up to par the second time through the system.

It would be a shame if these computers have the same problems.

Assuming all the refirbished units had the mooing/heat/whine, would I be happier getting a new macbook, or a refirb that used to have mooing/heating/whine and hoping that apple fixed it to within my specifications, even if it's still mooing/heating up/whining but within apple's specs?

I'd imagine you have the same rights to return the machine is you would if you'd bought it 'new'.

I guess that depends on whether you assume that the new macbooks would not moo/heat up/ whine at all. Remeber, some people have had problems, many have not.

But let's say that the new macbooks did moo/heat up/whine, but only within apple's specs....Essentially, if you decided on the refurb, you'd have the same computer, but cheaper...afterall they have the same warranty!

In short, is saving money worth the gamble of a slight moo/heat up/whine...only you can decide that.
