You guys may remember that a few days ago I posted a personal poll asking people there religious preference. I got a good response and I have decided to post the results a few days early. Some people thought the poll was untrustwortly because you could pick mulitple religions and vote twice. I asure you all that every IP that voted more than once removed to only the first vote. Feel free to still vote if you have not @ the religous poll. Please, I beg you do not make this a political form that gets out of hand and gets closed. I realize that I did not cover every religion and that I focused more on Christanity, but that was the purpose of my poll. Thanks for voting guys.

Here are the resluts with a few tech specs as well.

Wow. It would be interesting to cross-correlate the religious data with the browser/OS data!

Slightly over 300 users voted...I would love for every one that could to still vote so I can get a larger percentage of MacRumors users.

It's funny that you put browser and OS's under the religious poll result categories! Pretty interesting results though!

    Just my editor's mentality:

You have "Buddhism, Judaism, Atheism, and Islam"

but, "Catholic and Protestant" instead of "Catholicism and Protestantism"

Under the Protestant breakdown you have "Witnesses and Anglicans" but no others are plural. Also have "Mormonism".

I'm surprised by the number of Atheists (those from the other end of faith).

I'm curious as to why you didn't include Agnostics as well as I believe many people who are actually Agnostic, classify themselves as Atheist out of ignorance...

Since I had the data, I just thought I would post it since I feel that it is probably close to accurate of what the MacRumors site in general recieves. Arn would probably have to answer that.

Just looking at the Protestant and Catholic breakdown, it looks more like a sample size of 100 for the religion question. (For the Protestants, all percentages are in increments of ~3.5% which is consistant with there being ~29 Protestant responces) The same is true for Catholics (~16 responces). I'd be interested to know if either (1) 200 people failed to indicate their religion in a religion poll, or (2) all the Protestant and Catholic groups have memberships divisible by three.

By the way, technically Mormons aren't Protestants, but it's good to see them being grouped with other Christians.

I find it absurd that mac users either use safari, firefox or IE.

There are SOO many other browsers out there.

Yeah, but they're not very good. Us Mac users have taste and expectations. ;)

I voted, but I'm wondering what the purpose is? Is this for school (more likely for me to vote), is it for fun, etc?

And then of course, what are you trying to prove/find out? Why are you focusing on Christianity and computer use? what difference does it make to know the answers?

So, in the poll I put my religion, but then there was nothing about browser or OS. Is this because you get that info automatically over the 'net?

    I'm just curious.

    Anglican and Episcopalian

Those to are actually the same E is the american branch of Anglican. Also, if you wanted to seperate them then E' should be part of Catholicism because it actually is. and so is Anglican. They are part of protesentism but the faith is really Catholic. so it should read 11% Anglican. Or even better for of a general category Anglo-Catholic describes both Churches, as opposed to Roman.
