I'd like to access/control my home computer from work.

so far, I've tried:

- Apple Remote Desktop
- Timbuktu

but without any real results.

I have a static IP on my home computer, but for some reason, it says that it's unable to connect (with both clients). I've checked allll that options under the Sharing sys pref tab. Yet, still... nothing.

What am I missing? Is there some secret trick that I haven't realized?

It's a bit annoying.

You have to set up your router properly and make sure there are no firewalls blocking the ports needed.

i used to do the same thing from work to my home machine using VNC via ssh tunnels. read about it, it might be a good option since traffic will also be encypted.
