Repairing permissions: What you need to know

    Great article! Permissions--as they NOW stand--have been demystified. Repairing permissions is hugely unlikely to do any harm. Nor is it necessary, but occasionally can solve a problem. Doing so regularly is needless but harmless if you want to--and doing so after a problem appears is easy enough to be worth a shot.

    Very informative

    Very informative ... however ... repairing permissions CAN help a computer's speed.

    It's better (if you have a PPC G3, G4, G5 CPU) to use AppleJack to repair permisions and repair problems at the same time.

    It also helps to use a prebinding utility.
