So I've been enjoying Resistance Fall of Man.

A great sci-fi shooter. One of the most enjoyable in a long while but...

Why couldnt the developer's Insominac when developing the game actually look at a map of Britain ?

    Just for your information Insomniac

Manchester is not next to the Irish Sea (that's Liverpool)

Bradford is 100% not south west of Manchester.

Nottingham is not in South Yorkshire (they have it where Sheffield should be)

Seriously the list of basic geographical errors is endless. And all could have solved if the developer had taken 1 look at a map. Thankfully most of the world will be ignorant to these mistakes, but it's like setting a game in the USA and having Philedelphia in California......

It's a game. This is like walking out of a movie and explaining why the movie "hackers" is technically not realistic :p It's there for entertainment value, if it serves that purpose then its a winner imo.

True to some extent but the whole point is that they have taken so much time to create a world, fill it with a story about alien invasion and struggle for mankind, and the central basis of this is the UK location. So why get the basics of UK geography wrong ? That takes away a lot of the immersion, and it is somthing that would have been incredibly easy to get right.

It's like having a world war 2 game, set in France, but then have a cutscene showing a map of Outer Mongolia. It just defeats the purpose entirely.

In the time frame that the game is set at, that is where those cities were. They have since moved. Also the aliens have left.

LOL. Yep those cities got up and moved on the backs of colossus giant land sea turtles ;)

Yeah that's what I thought too, until I saw the map in the cutscenes. I mean if it was developed in the UK there is simply no excuse. Unless it was that North / South ignorance thing going on :)

You know, the one that means anything above the M1 doesnt exist ;)

oh MRU, Britain stopped being important after WWII when you guys lost (again) and had to be bailed out by the USA (again)...Just because you guys were the center of the world for a couple of centuries and just because the cities have been on maps for hmm...a hell of a long time and just because a few million people live there is no reason for them to ACTUALLY get it right. They are busy people, McDonalds and Starbucks await, they have no time for geography lessons ;)

(on a side note, something outrageous like 20% of all Americans don't know where CANADA IS...so don't feel too bad...)

Just out of interest MacRumorUser – you wouldn't happen to have any screenshots or anything you could post? I'd be interested to see how inaccurate this map is, and find out whether or not I need to start speaking with a Welsh accent... :p

Hackers is probably the most accurate hacker movie I've ever seen :p Much better than the likes of Swordfish, just pulling words at random out of a security dictionary - "hacker! encryption! firewall! logic bomb!"

Mortal Engines :D "Twas a usual, quiet day, and the City of London was chasing down a small mining town"
