Check this out...one of my friends got this in his Gmail inbox, and for a few minutes it freaked both of us out...then we laughed. Haha.
It's a pretty convincing fake...right addresses, et cetera. Nice joke to play on someone who doesnt know anything :D

I didn't read the whole thing, but from what I read, it sounds pretty legit. I'm sure someone will be fooled by this.

I think I'd have a heart attack if I got one of those.

That looks way too legit.... ;)

I know I could laugh at any message received like that as all my music is legally purchased. :D

So why would an e-mail from the RIAA have a gmail.com domain? Right there I'd start to think it was fake.

But still, someone went to a bit of effort to freak people out.

Why would the RIAA even EMAIL someone? I'd think you'd get a nasty letter in the mail, or a phone call.

Bureau of Entertainment? Okay. Sure. Whatever...

I did a reverse search on those phone numbers. The LA County DA's number is real, but I couldn't find a match on the second set of numbers aside from finding it was in NY state.

Except that no one would ever ever ever try sending anyone a legal document through email. I mean, common sense has to prevail. They're threatening jail time and notifying you of a Federal case against you by... email? :p

What if tons of people (which I doubt it) start responding to the emails saying "I didn't download music illegally! why do you guys send this freakin email to me?" directly to RIAA? and start to make a big fuss out of it.

Or two guys in dark suits and sunglasses show up at your door. And they aren't the Men in Black.

Actually they are MIB. The RIAA was able to convince them that music downloading is far more important and a greater threat then alien domination (actually they caught several MIB downloading and thretened to expose them if they didn't work for them)

So now the RIAA has MIB so watch out. You may see two guys dressed in black in a nondiscript vehicle in your neiborhood coming after YOU--->!
