I purchased 2 ringtones on itunes on my computer yesterday. I went to change a ringtone on my iphone and the new ringtones were not listed. I checked on itunes and they were listed under music not ringtones. How do I get to ringtones? Thanks!

Music would have ext .mp3 ,whereas a ringtone would be .m4r

Music could also have an extention of m4a

If your ringtone isn't already m4a, it needs to be converted to that before renaming to m4r

    Similar problem

    I'm having a similar problem.

I have downloaded some ringtones. (they arrived as m4a files)
I located the files, renamed them to m4r files and re-imported them into iTunes.
They still appear under Library -> Music. Library -> Ringtones is empty.
If I "Get info" on the files they appear as "Kind: Ringtone"

    Any suggestions?...

    Thanks.

    Colin
