Safari not remembering passwords

Safari isn't remembering passwords on my iMac. Still doing it on my other macs and iOS devices, all synced to iCloud. Is it keychain that does this? I turned off iCloud on the iMac and turned it back on, and unclose safari and keychain as well. All in the hope of reysyncing the keychain, but none of it seemed to help. Am I barking up the wrong tree?
