I just got around to installing Windows on my new iMac and wanted to know if it was safe to rename the Windows volume (Fat32) to something different, or at least get it off the Mac's desktop...

Meanwhile, I'm trying to resolve a problem of Windows dying and then rebooting each time I try to log-in to any of the accounts... :(

It is perfectly safe to rename "NO NAME" to anything you like (mine is Winblows). As for removing it from the desktop, you can just drag it to the trash, and "eject" it. But it will return evey time you log out/restart. I don't know of a method to stop it from mounting on startup.

    :) Thanks!

But all the same... I don't think I'll be meddling with Boot Camp for a while. I tried formatting it twice and I still had a bundle of problems, with the last attempt resulting in major panic when I couldn't boot back to the Mac OS and no mouse and keyboard was working (after Windows froze while installing the Macintosh Drivers CD). There is still nothing better than a Mac simply being a Mac. ;)

You are using XP Service Pack 2 right?

Yup - XP Professional SP2. I'm going to try again today... I really hope it works. I would just use Parallels, but I haven't been able to run my Sims 2 games on them.

    Edit: Hurray! It's working!
