What are the chances Apple will be (one of the) first to the market with intel's Santa Rosa platform, When do you think it will happen?

Ugh, here come all of the Santa Rosa threads

I don't think Apple will be one of the first to use Santa Rosa, they were one of the last to release Merom...

I'd like to know when the MBP hard drive will be user servicable. that would be a great feature. both macbook lines are now 64-bit, what the hell is the point of this? theyre both fully optimized for 10.5, and yet people want to know when the next one is coming out.

I own a ferrari. When's the faster model coming out? When will it have telephathic steering??? When will it hover?????

It's hard to say, really. When Intel announced it's Core Duo chip, it was the day (?) before MWSF, which allowed for a quick announcement from Apple. The Core 2 Duo, as we all know, didn't make it into the lineup as quickly, lagging Apple several weeks behind PC manufacturers.

Since Santa Rosa isn't scheduled to be out until Q2 (I think) of 2007, that could mean as early as April or as late as June. I say, unless Apple already has something scheduled around the Intel announcement, they will take their own sweet time about upgrading again.

Personally, I'm hoping for an Apple birthday update, but I'm not holding my breath. ;)

I bet they will give their computers the C2D treatment and wait a while.

You act like 64 bit compatibility is the only feature Apple should bring to the table. There is more to a computer than just a processor. You should know that.

Agreed, such as a high quality LCD screen.

Perhaps you meant to say there is more to a computer than a processor and a display?
