guys, i'm here again requesting your help please. i am not able to buy the ST-A2013SA-B adaptor. i tried both here http://www.shopsintech.com/product_info.php?products_id=942&osCsid=ef2539da21c0fe266650a6d7e3478b29 and here http://eshop.sintech.cn/mobile/ui/product.php?id=1026&s=2822462719216 the first doesn't accept any payment method (perhaps because they don't ship to italy)?) the second open a sandbox paypal payment page but i can not access using my id and password! i just tried to use my paypal account and it works, so it's not a paypal issue. any other place where to buy the adapter? maybe ebay? thank you
OK try here, now they have 2 models, I have the 2nd on the way. Haven't yet deciphered the difference: http://eshop.sintech.cn/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=2013+MacBook+Pro+%2BAir+SSD+to+P&x=12&y=10
hey handheld so is the xp941 on lycom still your recommended? or is it now the apple ssd with the other adapter? i heard you say earlier that trim is once again disabled? does osx just deactivate trim randomly on the xp941 after having it activated with trim enabler? or does it not support trim? Does the apple ssd automatically activate trim when installed since it's apple ssd?
OK, I have now compared the two models. There is the heatsink. Plus in the description, 2 more SSD's are listed: 2. Fit following SSD modules: Samsung MZ-JPV1280 Sandisk SD6PQ4M-256G Oh, & $2 dearer
Under $300 combined The 256GB SSD with the greatest performance and price these days is the XP941. Apple's 256GB SSD's on ebay are mostly 2X parts. 512GB PCIE SSD's for the best price is the Apple 512GB SSD. $400 +/- on ebay. It's a x2 part that falls behind the XP941 512 in larger file transfers. (most all OS reads/writes are on small files) The XP941 can be had at a 25% to 35% premium. My favorite: 1TB Apple SSD's have been picked up under $600 from a USA seller - Sputnik systems - including Shipping. At 2x price of the 256gb the extra $$ gives 4x the storage! They are the best deal as the XP941 512 is $500ish from NewEgg.
i ordered the lycom adapter from a 3rd party amazon store..and the 256gb xp941 on newegg. So i should have everything in under a week delivered to try out.. I hope everything runs smooth and i don't have the deep sleep problem. Im going to put the xp941 in slot 3 and move my inateck usb card up to 4.
Can anyone clarify for me if the 2013/2014 512gb apple samsung blade (MZ-JPU512T/0A2) has a x4 link? Thank you.
Seems to depend on what machine it came from. The ones out of new Mac Pros appear to be x4 parts (check the model number on the other side, it might start with S4LNxxxxxx) and this seems to indicate it would be 4 lane. If it's from a Macbook, probably just 2 lane.
here they said that the 1tb model of rMBP is a 4x lane. is it correct? http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1694977
I'm not entirely sure, but I think that there is a 512g pcie SSD intended for the nMP that might connect at 4 lanes, while the 512g pcie SSD intended for the late 2013 macbook pros is a 2 lane job. Detailed part numbers should be researched before buying a 512g.
so are you saying that the 1tb version is the same both for nMP and for rMBP? while there are 2 different version of the 500 gb ssd
As far as I can tell its the same, bar that one comes with a heat sink attached. Apple's numbering scheme ids all of them as separate parts depending on the model, but Samsung's numbers don't seem to make them very different. Apple's part number for the 1tb SSD is 661-8142 for the rMBP and 661-7540 for the nMP. You can find the Samsung part numbers somewhere here or looking at pictures or ifixit. My retina Macbook Pro from late 13 is a 512g from Samsung connected @ two lanes. I'm pretty sure the nMP 512g is a 4 lane job
Will any of the other M2 NGFF modules outside of these work? I dont know if I have the prices wrong but it seems the Sumsung MZ-JPU512T (Apple one) is selling for ~$500 now? Are there any other alternatives in either 512GB or 2 * 256 sizes? ---------- To follow up my previous post, is the Samsung XP941 - 128GB 'bootable'? I already have a 12TB NAS and multiple drives, I was thinking of 2 X 128GB Samsung XP941 in one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/M-2-NGFF-PC...t=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item4ad8351694 Which seems to be 4 lane PCIE. Setting them into RAID 0 should give similar performance to the 256/512 models?
Hopefully this helps: All versions of the XP941 are bootable. 128GB is a tight fit. I had to use symbolic links to other SSD's to manage my system resources. In some benchmarks the 128GB XP941 is 1/2 the speed of the 256GB part. Avoid using it in a raid if you can. Note that the 128GB is still much faster than any SATA III SSD I've used. Raid 0 performance 256GB and 512GB x4 parts are ideal. Target PCIe slots 2+3 or 2+4 for the fastest performance. Single stick performance. Samsung XP941 is the fastest x4 product for 128($125), 256($250) & 512GB($500) SSD's. Enthusiast class technology. Apple's 512GB($400) x2 is a main stream product. No need for trim enabler. Fast performance with a 20% savings over the XP941. x4 parts may be available on ebay. I haven't seen any. Apple's 1TB($600) x4 SSD performs on par with the XP941. Enthusiast class technology at a killer price(only $100 more than XP941 512). Good deals can be found - you just need to be patient.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Samsu...?pt=US_Solid_State_Drives&hash=item4188234668 Looks like they are making their way onto ebay. It is the 1TB x4 model but at ~$700 may be a tad steep? Although in comparison to the 512GB samsung is not bad. I will stick to finding a decent deal on a 256GB drive. Start off with one, and maybe upgrade to a second later on.
